Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies will seek further data from the Ministry of Finance, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, and the Central Bank after a public hearing on Thursday exposed deep divisions over the future of fixed-odds betting in the country.

The hearing, held by the Economic Development Committee at the request of Representative Vander Loubet, focused on Bill 180/2026, which aims to regulate online betting in Brazil. The discussions revealed significant disagreements among deputies regarding the potential impact of fixed-odds betting on consumers and the overall regulatory framework.

Following the hearing, the Chamber of Deputies plans to gather more information from key governmental bodies to inform their decision-making process on the future of online betting regulation in the country.
