The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that skill games are subject to the state’s Gaming Act and Crimes Code, overturning lower court decisions that had allowed the machines to operate outside slot machine regulations.
The decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court categorizing skill games as slot machines brings them under the purview of state laws, specifically the Gaming Act and Crimes Code. This ruling overturns previous judgments that had permitted these games to function without adhering to slot machine regulations.
Lawmakers now have a 120-day period to take action following this decision. If no new regulations are put in place, law enforcement will be authorized to take measures against the owners and operators of these skill games.
