South Africa’s National Gambling Policy Council is accelerating new gambling legislation and developing stricter advertising regulations to strengthen oversight of the country’s gambling industry.
Minister of Trade and Industry Parks Tau revealed that the NGPC has convened twice since July 2025 to address gambling challenges and formulate policies to enhance regulation. The government's focus on tightening laws and advertising rules is driven by concerns over addiction and the need for more robust industry supervision.
