Svenska Spel has rejected claims that it has “downgraded responsible gambling” as a corporate discipline, insisting that consumer protections remain at the core of its duties as Sweden’s state-owned gambling and lottery firm.

The response comes after Swedish daily Aftonbladet questioned whether Svenska Spel had shifted its focus towards profits over responsible gambling practices. Svenska Spel emphasized that safeguarding consumers against gambling-related harm is a top priority for the state-owned company.

The firm reiterated its commitment to upholding responsible gaming standards and stated that ensuring player protection and well-being are fundamental aspects of its operations in the Swedish market.
