Tribal gaming receipts hit an all-time high last year, with commercial casinos also reporting record revenues. However, sports betting has taken a dip, with industry chiefs blaming the “explosive rise” of prediction markets.

The most recent National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) gross gaming revenue figures show a rise of $2.3 billion on the previous year, marking a significant increase in tribal casino earnings. Alongside tribal casinos, commercial casinos have also experienced a surge in revenue, reaching record levels in the same period.

In contrast, the sports betting sector has seen a decline, which experts attribute to the growing popularity of prediction markets. This shift in consumer behavior has impacted sports betting revenues, leading to a decrease despite the overall positive performance of the gambling industry.
