The NC Education Lottery revealed that three players have won big from its scratch-off tickets. All of them have come forward to claim their winnings, with every single one choosing the one-time lump sum option.
The first winner was identified as Jared Smith of Fuquay-Varina, who purchased a $10 50X scratch-off ticket from the Circle K on North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina. Smith chose the lump sum option, taking home $424,503 after required state and federal tax withholdings.
Another lucky player, Jamie Young of Franklin, won $1 million after purchasing a $30 Colossal Cash scratch-off ticket from the Fastop Food Mart in Franklin. Young also opted for the lump sum payment, receiving $424,503 after taxes.
Moreover, a third winner from the Fast Play game claimed an $800,000 prize. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the $10 ticket from the Speedway on Market Street in Wilmington.
